An inverter/charger is a combination of an inverter, battery charger and transfer switch into one complete system. When AC power is available, the inverter/charger recharges the batteries.

There are simple low cost industrial grade inverters that have a low over load rating that are not suitable for all non inductive loads such as motors, transformers, Solenoids, especially refrig and compressor applications.
For mobile power, marine power, Home Power we recommend a transformer based Inverter charger, as in most cases these devices will be connected to inductive loads as above.
For telecommunication systems we recommend rack mount units with high efficiency to keep the heat load as low as possible.
